Statement Dates

Can anyone shed any light on the reason credit card statement dates chop and change, seemingly at random?
I can understand the need to change the date if the normal date happens to fall on the weekend but they seem to change by a few days even when the 'normal' date is mid-week.

The date isn't fixed i.e. 25th of every month.
You'll probably find that it's always on say the 18th banking day of the month, hence why there is a variation from month to month depending on if the month starts with a weekend/bank holiday.0 -
My Cap1 is on the 7th whatever day of the week it happens to be so some don't vary.0

I'm sure one of mine is every 28 days, so obviously the date varies month to month. Not sure if this is the case for all though?Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0

Depends on the card in my experience. Some always seem to be the same date. Some the same date or the first working day thereafter. Some appear to follow another pattern (perhaps the nth banking day of the month or whatever). But they do always vary within certain limits - ie they don't generally move forward/backwards as the months pass.
Sometimes behaviour is bizarre. One of them (I forget which) sometimes appears online the day before the date on the statement.0 -
To catch out people who set up Standing Orders instead of Direct Debits to make payments. </cynic>

My statement is usually the 21st (weekend permitting) but I sometimes find that it is delayed by a day, particularly if i use the card on the 20th or 21st. It is as if they delay it deliberately so the transaction just makes it onto this month's statement!0

One of my cards is always the 25th with the due date being 20 days later.
Other cards can vary by a few days either way but I don't particularly care about that as I just pay the statement upon receipt (typically eStatements).0 -
Mine seems to fall on the second working day after the second Sunday of each month.0

My tesco card is always on the 19th and my Rbs on the 5th.0
