Also if you are receiving the Severe Disability Premium in your Income-Related ESA having someone else living in the household may also affect your entitlement to that. I suggest you contact the CAB for their advice first so that you have the full facts as to how it may affect your benefit.

In certain circumstances you can still receive SDP when someone else lives in the property who are not expected to care for you such as a lodger/joint tenant who is someone who pays you for the right to live in the house/flat and has a commercial agreement and contract.

Depends on OP's circumstances and rates of DLA mind you, if on lowest rate of care probably better to have a non dependant which will entitle her to 2 bed' rate and no ND deductions which won't affect her benefit entitlement.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

Thank you for all the replies and information, it helps a great deal.

I will take everything into consideration, get more advise, but currently it looks like more hassle than its worth going forward with this, but I'll still keep doing research to see how it would work out just in case it would go ahead.

    Thanks again.

Would it not be possible for them to move in and you charge them a proper amount for the area of a one room rate and for them to pay your landlord direct with no money going through your bank account? Because if no money is going into and out of your bank account it should not affect your IR ESA or Housing benefit. That way your friend has a place to stay and part of your rent gets paid without it affecting your income in anyway.
