Tips for getting away from Wembley?

Off to London next weekend to see Bruce Springsten at Wembley. Staying in central London and although I have no worries about getting there, I know from leaving both an O2 and Earls Court event that the tube can get busy.

So any tips about getting back into central London.

When I have attended events at either the 02 or Wembley I have found it pays to leave a few minutes before it finishes i.e. as the encore song is about to start as you don't get caught in the large crowds at the tube station, just stroll onto the tube and get a seat, instead of having to wait until you can get on a train, stand up in a packed airless train for most of the journey home.

But thats always the best song . The one youve been waiting for . Agreed move down to the exit and then run like hell once done . we seen the radio one big weekend in Carlise and escaped as the foo fighters went on . We were in the car for the first song driving along a empty M6 and must have been preston by the time they went off . Love the foos but seen them earlier that year anyway .

Sorry, don't see the point of paying £X for a prestige concert and then deliberating missing a big chunk of it....

How quickly do you NEED to be back in Central London? I'll bet not very quickly. Research the tube times, see if there's extra services laid on, and wait until the rush dies down, surely?

Curfew for the gig is 10.30, trains for central London will be coming in from the North, so if you leave at 10.30, and walk north to either North Wembley or Preston Road, you'll be able to jump on before the crowds at Wembley Central or Park.

I'd leave at the end and walk to Preston Road(one stop up the line). Takes about 20 minutes and you will get a seat.
  • OK, here's an actual tip. As you're walking back along the 'big crowd of people towards the tube' there is a car park you can cross, turn left, then right on the high street.. and you'll be at the tube. It avoids about 300 yards of very busy crowds.

Make it 40 minutes and you'd be about right.

I agree with you in principal, but this is Broocie, so there's always the risk he might try to drag on Paul MacCartney again ;-)

We always head to Wembley Central tube. Never had to queue and 9 times out of ten get a seat (head to back of train). It's Bakerloo line and takes 15-20 minutes walk depending how fast you are.
