Any ideas???

Options
Bit of a long shot really but willing to listen to any input anyone has.........

Basically, I've almost finished my degree (as a mature student), my kids have grown up and I now have only one living at home, my housing costs are minimal and I've made a BIG decision - I don't want to work for others anymore, I want to work for myself.

The question is, doing what?? I've thought long and hard about my skills, strengths and weaknesses and have come up with a few ideas - can anyone add anything??

Strengths - I'm good at listening, organising, resolving problems. I've always worked in the advice sector (general and housing) and can relate to people in many different areas...... from clients to big bods in major organisations. Computer literate, have done book keeping/accounts, certain areas of law, have also done care work but don't know where that would fit in. Love working alone, like doing things my way but can also work with others - flexible.

Weaknesses - can lack discipline, leave things till a deadline looming and then have a mad panic (never missed a deadline though!!). Not good at networking cos I don't like social situations, like to do things my way

So far I've looked at areas like life coaching and/or organising things for others ie moving house. There are businesses in this area that offer a sort of concierge service but don't know if there's room in the market for another......... just pondering at the moment really!

Any other ideas??

I think de-cluttering is a growing line of work, linked to life coaching (because people often have 'issues' around their clutter). If you lived in Bristol I'd let you practice on me and DH! :rotfl:

What's your degree in? Could be relevant to jobs you could do.

Maybe set up a training company, or perhaps a business consultancy? Perhaps some sort of counselling?

What about one of those people who helps people emigrate/immigrate?

I dunno what they are called, but they assist in applying for visas, sorting out jobs, housing etc..etc.
