SAR (Subject Access Request) on a credit card 8 years old, no longer in use

Hi I was hoping someone could help me with a query. I have just been awarded PPI for 2 bank loans which im so grateful for. But it got me thinking that it was a credit card with the same bank that got my to take out a loan to consolidate. So im thinking that this credit card would probobly have had PPI (since the loans with the same bank did that I was unaware of)
I have dates that I had a credit card with them (from a credit report) BUT no paper work or card so no card number. They say I need a statement so they can look into it as its about 8yrs ago. I have nothing. Is it worth pursuing by using a SAR? Is it likely they would still have details archived? Im so sure there would be PPI on there.
