help with immersion heater

i have my immersion on timer i dont have it on all the time as i thought thiw was more expensive but it wont work on the timer if i switch it to the permanately on then it works but as i say i thought it was more expensive this way and prefer it on the timer. i for the last month have just switched it on for half an hour or so if we need hot water can anyone help

My one has three settings.

permanently on.
permantly off
and timed.

I also have a clock.
1. If you have a clock check it is the right time.

2. check you are not turning permanently off rather timed.

3. turn all the timing settings on and see if it works.

4. lastly - There is a possibility that the wires are incorrectly fitted inside the timer so you could look to see if a lose wire. ensure all electricity is turned off at fuse box.

5. It could be broken - You can buy a new timer for about £10 from an internet electrical shop or for about £16 in a high street diy shop. They are very easy to fit.

Some are fed from 2 supplies General and Off peak, and If not isolated properly could be LETHAL.:eek:
