You can't close a thread, you have only contributed to a public discussion.
It's no good being miffed with me, I repair I don't install. The trade in general quote for a job, I think we have established you don't but that doesn't really affect anything.
I very much doubt any of your quotes can be broken down because the installers will have approximated what the job is worth to them and won't really have a full breakdown until the quote is accepted and planned in.

Decorator, you mean you are the blonde that papered over the access panel?

The different trades are !!!!!es to each other.

Walls that are not true vertical, so the tilers have a night mare,
and then the plumber can't fit the mixer because the tiler had to pad the glue.

Conduits that are impossible to pass cables through.

They always steal the drill adapter for the screw bit,
and the most useful sizes of spanners.

If you were doing it by the book, you would draw up a professional job sheet, specifying quite a lot of details, including CAD drawings. I knew this guy who went on loads of courses, became a facilities manager, and he had to watch the trades people like a hawk. And the price goes through the roof.

Until you establish a good relationship, there is no telling what will happen. I am using people who are not very good, but they never lie to me, and we get it done, eventually.

I would love to find somebody good and who charges a reasonable rate. I did, but guess what, he got some good leads when he was doing my job about five years ago, now he's telling me his waiting list is 6 months.

No im not that person but ive seen plenty of blokes do it.

Im the one that goes in at the end to decorate and to rectify all the !!!!-ups.....you know, the plasterer that cant plaster around sockets neatly so i have to do it for them before i can paint... the carpenter who drills the wrong holes to hang a door but wont think about filling the them or corking the skirting board that he has just put on.

I like to see people happy with the end product, maybe thats strange to some people but so what.

scary the way a lot of traders stick together now i see why i dont trust some of them....its like being in a school playground listening to you lot....sticking together.

I am female yes and i am blond im dyslectic too but im not stupid.
Have a dig at me if you want.

The other option of course is that all these random strangers have told you the same thing because that is the answer to the question.

I dont know what strangers you are talking about, sorry to sound daft but im baffled by your reply.

I just came on here to ask others what they thought about my quotes, i didnt expect a load of traders to be on here. If your customers are happy and you are happy with your work why do you need to keep explaining yourselves.

No dont answer that because i really want to know. im going to leave it until funds are better but thanks all, its been an eye opener.
