6 grand in 6 months - my personal challenge!

So - I DID make fish pie last night with two of the salmon fillets and some half price king prawns - i think I made the bechemel sauce a bit too watery so it's going to be less and thicker next time! Had just enough to add to tonight's supper of roast chicken, salad, potato salad! I even made sandwiches to eat for lunch so - apart from adding money to the oystercard - I had a NSD! :j
Thing is - will I be able to make those roast chicken mayo sandwiches I can see in my head? Still time!!!!
About the fags - I had a breakfast one, none at work, none when I got back home, but caved in for one after supperbut 2 from 20 - worth a pat on the back? So tricky when the OH is still there puffing away in front of me - the only question is - how to get him to quit as well??????

So, I mentioned previously how this thread has been set up to tell people about my moneysaving because my OH simply does not understand and I thought we were turning a corner over the weekend when he told me to put more of his wages towards debt overspend but no, I was wrong!!!
Last night he said he wanted to get his hair cut and go to the hygienist on Wednesday!!!!!!! Because he only goes to this posh dentist in the City and always has to go to his hairdresser at T and Guy this would cost 100 quid  which if it was a one-off wouldn't matter i suppose but he gets his hair cut almost every two weeks and I haven't been for 6 months!!!!!!!!!
So I told him he'd struggle to do both with what's left in the current account (about 35 quid) and he then said - 'is there any more money on one of the credit cards!'
well - i had mentioned to him on Sunday how I'd almost paid off one of them but here he was angling for me to say it again so he could justify spending the money I had paid off on his hair and getting clean teeth!!!!!!! I forgot to mention it!
So, from now on definitely no telling him if there is any 'extra credit' around the place and I'm going to hide the cards as well so if he does get it into his head to grab one - they're not where he expects them to be.
I'm not a bad person am I?!
I just feel if it were up to him we'd never get out of debt. Okay - rant over! That's better!!! Normally I'd have a cigarette to calm down but actually - this is far more cleansing! :rotfl:Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0 -

Yeah, you're downright evil.
More power to your elbow!
Debt management in my experience often also includes an element of people management, so stop worrying. (At least it does in our house.)Herman - MP for all!0 -
Well, I almost had my second NSD in a row! I failed on making the sandwiches - i think the key is to make them during the supper-creation time. But . . i didn't buy anything at work - I ate 2 packs of breakfast biscuits and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl before leaving the house. I held up my end of the bargain but the OH needed a pack of tabacco so that was four pounds. and while there I saw a pack of radishes for 25p yellow stickered and grabbed that but the cashier rang it through at 20p so we were both like 'nice'!
Tonight - left over chicken will go into a chicken and leek casserole with the veg from the market that I bought on Sunday. Served with the radishes in a side salad and rice.
Tomorrow is designated butcher day to buy the mince for a spag bol, mmmmm!!
And I said I'd go for lunch with a mate from work but I'm going to keep it cheap and cheerful - a local place does a pizza for lunch for 3.50 so that's where I'm going to take her - maybe we'll share it!! :rotfl:Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0 -
So - update on the going out for lunch - actually made sandwiches and so no spend at lunch! success! :j eek - there is something quite exciting about this whole moneysaving malarkey!!
However - I did take out ten pounds from the cash point as I knew I would be going to the butchers after work and they only take cash. I added a few quid to the oyster card (there's no reason I can't walk to work - I have to stop being so lazy!) and went home via Mr S to get some mushrooms. Now mushrooms weren't part of the original plan as I bought them from the market on Sunday but I fell asleep on the sofa last night so OH made the supper and used ALL the mushrooms so I spent 97p on replacing them (value brand).
In the butchers I got 500g bacon lardons and 700g prime beef mince for 6.16 and added all the carrots and celery and almost all the courgette as well - I figure then at least there's no waste at the end of the week!! And so - I have created a bol that would easily feed the 5000 (even though there is only two of us!). :rotfl:
It's been bubbling away for a hour and a half so very soon ready to eat with lots of half price cheddar.
Oh - and only 1 cigarette today!Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0 -
Oh - and update on the OH's beauty regime! He didn't actually go to the hairdressers or the hygienist in the end so that's 100 saved or really not spent this week! Which is great!

Thanks EchoDelta, I think I'm quite lucky in that I don't really get cravings - I was always smoking more because the OH did it than the need to smoke but the one time I really do miss it is after eating supper - especially when the plate of spag bol is large enough to feed a family of 4!!!
But, I'm drinking lots of water and distracting myself by reading other peoples' DFDiaries and reminding myself why I'm doing this all!!! And hopefully in 5 minutes the ridiculousness of the Apprentice will distract me - or drive me to drink something stronger! we'll have to see!!Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0 -

I gave in tonight! The remnants of a takeaway curry sit all around me! and i smoked cigarette no 2 of the day as well
I also spent 10 pounds on beer and tobacco for the OH and 4 muffins for me! I only ate 3 - but they were yellow stickered so that's a glimmer of hope!
But tomorrow is the man's payday so I can take all his money off him and hit that grand target for the moth of June (fingers crossed!) So I'm going ot transfer the money from his account to mine tomorrow and because of slooooow internet banking it should be with me by Monday, or Tuesday and we can kick those debts into shape!!! Hoorah!!!
Working til 8pm tomorrow so hope I don't crack and give in to an easy supper again tomorrow - has to be that ginormous spag bol - which reminds me it needs to go in portions in the freezer!Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0
