mice we bought those ultrasound plug in and it works suspect they were coming from next door . we had proper traps the humane ones they ducked the inhumane ones caught them but they werent dead and we couldnt face the poor wee things so we opted for plug ins that work a treat.you have tp luug them in a socket near where the most poos are lol
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x
  • We had the plug in things, they were useless, even the mouseman could not get rid of the damn mice, we ended up moving!!

    Hey Helyonnaise! welcome!!

Every day is a struggle! and I'm really failing this week, month, lifetime?!!! Not sure which is more apt!

No spending day today - until I came home and saw a 40% off for Papa Johns pizzas and . . . wait . . . is that the doorbell? Oh no! That doesn't help my budget or my waistline but I seem to have no willpower at the moment :( - i think it's cause I've not been paying anything off recently but hopefully after this weekend - the belts will be pulled tight and I will jump back on the MoneySaving wagon - bear with me people!!!!

As to the mice - thank you for your suggestions everyone - we have sonic emitter already and thought they had worked but obviously they've become immune to them now. Waiting for a response from the council pest control people and then I'm going to see if landlord will pay the fees otherwise I can't afford to pay it and it's back to the traps, eugh!!!!!! I don't like rodents but neither do I like to find them three weeks later degrading behind the freezer and having to be scraped off the floor, trap and all (true story)!!!! Apologies if anyone was eating their supper. But mice - I hate them!!!!!!!!!!!! Cats would definitely keep them away I think! Onto the search for a cat! :D

We used the sonic thingys to great effect. They work on your main ring circuit in the house, so if you only have one circuit they are great. In older houses the wiring may not be on a ring, so they are no good. You would also need another transmitter for upstairs. We sell them and have had great reports back about mice moving out ... No not with a trunk, that would be an elephant !
Its just a bad day, Not a bad life ..
  • Hey Mara_uk7! Thanks for your comments!

before we got the emitters I did loads of research so we didn't waste our money on them (very moneysaving savvy!!!!) and loads of people say they're working and they did for a few months but the mice are definitely back! I might turn it off and then leave it a day and turn it back on - maybe it'll shock them into running away! I'm also going to move it closer to where all the 'poos' are!!! but that is under a boiler - is that safe?!!!

PS - The boiler is on the kitchen wall - a combi with space on the counter-top below where our computer is (for watching YouTube in the kitchen!!) and behind the computer monitor is their toilet basically!!!

Completely safe to put it near the boiler, mine shared the boiler cupboard for weeks. I was scared to take it out even long after we stopped hearing activity. Mind you, a cat is more fun :)

I'm going to move it round then and see what happens! Fingers crossed - its true though! the emitters aren't as good for a cuddle!!! :rotfl:

The OH said not to take it out - he used an analogy from the film Aliens with machine guns and creatures etc but I didn't really understand it - the end result though - don't turn them off!!! So a quick switch over to the new position. Will keep you all updated! :)

  • ok - so I'm torn, a kitten has come my way - its not very MSE adding an extra one to your budget what with vaccinations, pet insurance and food and all that added stuff but should I take the plunge? and go with it (for the next 10-15 years or so!!) or kindly decline? I'm so confused!!!!!

  • OK! Be proud of me! I declined the cat - I definitely want a cat and so does the OH but we don't need a cat and it strangely re-started my moneysaving drive - I was looking at cat littler, food, vaccinations and thinking to get the cat and to set it up with us it could take 50-100 pounds - that's a tesco shop which could set me up with staples for the next three months!!!

So for supper I did the bacon pasta bake with mushrooms and onions and some frozen veg (i had to buy the onions and balked at paying 1.10 for three from sainsb**gers!!!) Definitely getting back on the market drive on Sunday though we may have to use the credit card to do it because somehow i miscalculated at the start of the month and we have zero to last until Monday but also have no food so catch-22! I thought we were past this type of juggling so need to assess where the slip-up has happened.

But i'm brushing myself up -no more wallowing and spending just cause i pretend for a second that actually life is fine, because it's not -we have our plan - i WILL be debt-free by December 2014 but not unless I prop us up because I know if I falter, the OH will definitely fall. hmmmm. Gotta remember the end-goal!! That 0 figure in my debt calculator and 12,000 pounds this Christmas.

Back on the wagon! Yee-haw!!!! :money:
