" Bumped Comps"

Is it me or does there seem to be a lot of comps being bumped on the board lately?

A couple of days ago I was rushing to get the last few comps done as I was going to work and in my haste I never checked my thanks on a couple of them only to find I had already entered them and probably lost my entry to them as they were one entry per person DOH!!

It is getting a little annoying but I guess its just newbies who dont fully understand the boards yet so suppose I must be a little understanding LOL.

Well people know what I think about bumping the threads!

Exactly the same with me, I have re entered some, or wasted my time back tracking over ones I have already done thinking there is something I need to know being posted, but nope useless drivel mostly

I have also missed comps because the board gets bumped so much the new comps go wizzing down the page & onto the next one

But you are not allowed to say pleased don't bump the threads as it may offend the new people  they get ignored mostly anyway

  • Perhaps you need to look at the way you're entering comps if you are finding yourself duplicating them due to the way the board is. Perhaps try the little green tick or red cross, that way you will see that you have seen the comp without even going back into it. Much easier than thanking (although I do thank too, but more because its polite than to see if Ive entered or not)

Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

I end date today's and tomorrows dates, then comp by 'Last Posted', using the green Entered tick to show I've entered. This method, although a bit more convoluted than mclarkie's, also negates any missed comps due to bumping and also duplication on my part.

I suggest maybe tinkering with the way you comp if it becomes too much of an irritation.

There does seam to be more bumping atm but then if anybody posts please don't bump they get jumped on for that.

The other thing that is happening a lot is the newbie posts comp with out link the second post is somebody posting the link and then a third post pointing out it was a duplicate anyway. Perhaps before posting a link we should check it isn't a duplicate as it's unlikely the newbie searched.

I totally agree with you Moneybot,

I never add a link to a comp for the very reason you have given, I am useless at searching so I leave it for someone who can search.

The trouble is how do we tell people this as we are not allowed to ask people to stop doing something!!!!!

Glad it's not just me that has noticed this. It's all very well jumping in with the link, but if it's a duplicate or more often than not isn't titled correctly it's going to be removed very soon anyway.

(Text removed by MSE Forum Team)

There was never any issue with people asking to not bump, the issue arose when you took it upon yourself to become the forum prefect and overdo the no bumping messages, completely oblivious to the fact you were NOT helping the situation, to the extreme point where a BG (and if I remember maybe MSE Andrea?) had to tell you to calm down.

If you are that aggrieved with people bumping posts, tell a BG and they'll take whatever action is deemed appropriate. If their action isn't good enough and you would much rather have a stricter forum with no bumping or banter, just comps and answers, either find a different comping portal which satisfies your needs or start one up.

    EXCUSE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one asked me to "Calm Down" at all. I would get your fact straight before opening your mouth

What happened to being "Friends" then?

That obviously did not last long did it
