Key Meter

I have just moved to a property that has a key meter fitted, I don't want this meter, I want an ordinary meter, but the utility company wants £52 to change it, is this right? I am not in any debt from previous property, in fact I was in credit, so there should be no problem there......

Sounds like you are supplied by SSE if that's the price they quoted. If so, it should be free in the situation you describe ;)

Yes it is right. There is a cost to make the change, and not all suppliers will do it for free. It has nothing to do with your previous credit record.

Changing from PPM to CR is classified as a 'non essential' change and therefore in most cases incurs a charge for the customer to cover engineer etc. You should have factored having to pay for this when you decided to move to the property.
