Computer problem

Can anyone help please?

My PC keeps switching itself off. Either that or it won't go on in the first place. The lights come on but it doesn't power up. Does anyone know why this might happen?
Thanks in advance:confused:

Could be the power supply, hardware fault, loose cables, software issue.

possibly a fault with the power unit in the PC, otherwiese it could be a component failing/badly seated.

open the Pc up, blow all the dust out of the inside, carefully earth yourself by touching the framework of the pc, then unplug and then plug back in everything (including the ram) and any power leads connectors

    and any pci cards

Remember to be careful what you touch inside the casing and do not use excessive force if a card or component refuses to budge ;) If in doubt ask before getting the hammer out.

The same scenario happened to me once, a gradual process, it fist started switching off, and then it just would not turn on at all. It did turn out to be a memory stick that had fried.
