Is 4G really a dealbreaker? Mobile broadband already operates faster than my home broadband.
I'm tempted to ask who needs 4G speeds on a mobile phone?, but I know I may regret that. :rotfl:
Never say never and all that.
You're absolutely right, most people surely don't need 4G speed. It hardly takes long to load up a page. People who feel the need to stream videos may have a different opinion0 -

I sort of agree with you but if, like 3 have promised 4g will be available at no extra charge why would you not?0 -
4g will be great for my home as we are at the end of line for broadband & get 2.5mb download with no sign of high speed net in sight. As for mobile- not that bothered but as im on Three,i will take it if they dont charge extra.0

I wouldn't worry too much about 4G (LTE) really, DC-HSPA is just as fast.0

And if he want's an iPhone, an Android wannabe won't compare. IOS is superb and is liked for its intuitiveness - I have both, and there are times I struggle, but not with the iPhone. 3UK's data is also faster and cheaper.
Avoid a contract if you possibly can (from any network) it cuts down on the potential hassles later - I bought my first for my chosen network on an auction site (cheaply) as it was locked to my chosen network. 3 months later I got them to unlock it.0 -
You can get an iPhone 5 16GB for £389.99 using O2's refresh tariff.
On their Unlimited minutes, Unlimited Text, 1GB data tariff (£17) + Their Phone plan (£15) and £29.99 upfront.
It works like so - Sign up to the tariff at a total combined rate of £32 (£17 is for the mins/text and data and £15 is for the phone).
Over the course of 24 months the phone comes to £389.99 - £15*24 + £29.99, but here's the good part, the day after you set up the tariff you can call O2 pay the £360 off and your tariff is reduced to £17 only (You are not locked into this and go choose to leave/upgrade anytime) and you've got an iPhone 5 for £140ish less then buying it outright.
If you go to the O2 website/refresh - and on the right hand side click on the icon for cheapest Phone plan it details it there.0 -
seems like a good idea for next iphone 5s especially as theres cheaper sim deals out there than 17 pounds a month0

buying a phone works out cheaper than a contract almost always.
So if you have the money available then its usually a better option, as it also means your not stuck in a 24month contract.
There is the O2 refresh, and Vodafone Red hot which are alternatives0
