Morning
My wife and I are planning a 5 day walking break in snowdonia
National park in sept.
Can anyone recommend a few walks that are scenic and moderately
Strenuous and about 3or 4 hours long.
Also where would be a good place to base ourselves with a nice hotel and FOOD.
thanks

Morning - Rather than hotels you have areas to look first Snowdonia is a rather large place . I would rather have a central base and bus it into Snowdonia . Caernarfon . Llanberis & Betsw-y-coed could be options . Caernarfon - Look at The Black Boy Inn http://www.black-boy-inn.com/home.htm good hotel with great food . I eat here at least twice a month and a few other good places to eat very close . (stones.castell.FUs.galleri) Meifod is another option and a premire inn in Caernarfon on the Marina too . All good . Pity you dont want a lodge . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

The Best Western Waterloo Hotel in Betws-y-Coed would be a good base. Betws is located in a very scenic area in Snowdonia and has reasonable transport links (road, rail and bus) and plenty of walks around the village.
The National Park website lists a number of walks categorised by difficulty. I'd very definitely recommend one of the walks to the top of Snowdon (I did the "Llanberis" one), although you'd need more than three to four hours.
Conwy Council also have some walks listed on their website. I'd recommend one of the walks on the Great Orme in Llandudno, although you'd really need a nice clear day to be able to take advantage of the views. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

I check out hotels in Beddgelert, the Welsh highland railway passes through the village and the Watkin path up Snowdon starts nearby.
Trivia: The Watkin path substituted for the Khyber Pass in Carry on up the Khyber. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Extra trivia The Watkin Path and others were also the backdrop for the mountains in the film The Inn of the Sixth Happiness a film about My mums friend and old sunday school teacher Gladys Aylward. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Are there Donkeys in this film?
I'm sure my dad told me he'd helped with arranging them, they were used for rides on Benllech beach for many many years- Hewitts Donkeys.:j0 -
All i remember is them singing "this old man" at the end . It was filmed in the late 50s. About that time or slightly before she used to stay in Port Sunlight ,Wirral:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

I highly recommend walks around Aber Falls, Llyn Crafnant and parts of the Anglesey coastal path, particularly on the west side.0

Enjoy.
There is a plaque on the wall of the Electric Mountain centre in Llanberis commemorating the film.
