Isle of Wight

Hi, I'm going to the Isle of Wight next week with my husband and 14 month old daughter. Can anyone recommend good places to go/things to do? Also, if anyone knows of any offers or discount codes/vouchers I'd be very grateful!

have a look at coleman farm it might suit your little one.

you can get a joint ticket for robin hill and black gang chime but they are both expensive but good

On Sandown pier there is a good ball pit for a wet day

There is a donkey santury which is small but free which is good

the village of Godshill is nice to visit too

I am sure the isle of Wight zoo used to be on Tesco rewards

Also make if you go to the beach take your own bucket and spade and windmill thing with you as they can be expensive.

Two locals have a brilliant eating out guide:

Free stuff: Arreton Barns and The Old Smithy @ Godshill

Pick up a Summer IOW guide on the Wightlink or Red Funnel Ferries.

Ryde has a nice childrens play area east of the hoverport on the Esplanade. IRRC it also has a outdoor water fountain/park so pack a cossie/towel for the little one.

I would also say Blackgang chime, The Donkey santuary, Model village and teashops at Godshill are good. We also liked the Needles which has a chair lift down to coloured sands, rides for the children, glass making and sweet shop where you can see sweets being made.

It's been a fair few years since I've been to the IOW, but I clearly remember the highlight was Blackgang Chine near Ventnor. It has the best and largest maze I've ver seen with hedges over 8ft tall and a viewers spot to help people solve it and certainly well worth a visit.

    Hi Lisa,

If you are looking for vouchers, discounts and offers during your holiday on the Isle of Wight ( Ferry, Accom, Food, Attractions etc) - get an Isle of Wight Tourist Card - you and the family could save quite a bit - we did.

Blackgang Chine is fantastic for littlies and oldies alike. Also The Needles - you can fill your own sandle bottle or shape. You can do Tesco clubcard vouchers for The Needles rides IIRC but it's free to go into The Needles. You can go down some chairlifts to the beach
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!

We were there the weekend before last and the Needles Chairlifts were out of order and the glass making closed.

Godshill is very pretty, as is the old town of Shanklin. We didnt have any little ones to entertain so was more just driving around the coast line and stopping off for the views, thatched cottages and country/ sea front pubs.
