Anyone recommend a good vet in the above area. Recently moved and looking for a 'caring' vet for our dog. Thanks

I recently moved to Church village and changed my vets to the Maes Glas Vets in Old Llantrisant as they were recommended to me by several people. I took my dog to my old vet in Cardiff to get his advice on a small lump my Collie had on his eyelid and was quoted £180+ but I decided I would try the Maes Glas surgery as I had heard such good things about them. They ended up charging me £80. Bargain. I now take all my animals there as they are so lovely with them.
Their number is 01443 220580, and they run an open surgery in the evening (you don't need an appointment)

Thanks - I shall give them a ring. Our dog is getting on a bit and we really want someone who cares for the animal rather than the more brusque business like approach, so thanks for helping.

My parents have used Treforest Veterinary Clinic - I found them very helpful when I was left dogsitting one weekend! (01443 491433)

We have used the Bridgend branch of Maes glas vets and found them brilliant-2 dogs and 3 cats plus hamsters rabbits and guinepigs over the years and always had good and think fairly priced treatment.

Thought I'd post an update - went to Maesglas vets in Llantrisant - brilliant. All made a fuss of our old lady retriever - just what we wanted. Many thanks.

  • Maes Glas have a website if anyone is interested: maesglasveterinarygroup.co.uk and they are opening a branch in Barry this August (2008)
  • If you haven't already registered, Valley Vets in Caerphilly or on the A470 near the Whitchurch turn off are excellent, we have used them for 6-7 years now and recently they put to sleep our beloved elderly cat, they treated us so kindly and our cat with the highest level of dignity.

Our other cat was there for an op last week, he didn't want to come home because he was having so much fuss from the nurses.

Maes Glas very good as a whole. Have used them extensively withthe nags. Always had exemplary service and reasonably priced - had some pretty major work done in the past! Response times on callouts also good - especially emergencies.
Haven't used them for small animals but the Brackla surgery always seems busy when i've needed to go there to collect drugs/pay bills etc.

Meh, I used to live in Whitchurch so used the Valley Vets as they were local. I cant honestly say I rate them that well, and I found them very expensive.
