How do you feel about expensive foreign school trips?

I'm pretty sure the teachers accompanying the pupils get a freebie hol. That's why the costs are so high.
No they do not they still have to put money towards it and they also do it in their own time. My Sister was the led teacher who took a group of 40 kid away and they got snowed in. All the teachers in the group had to spend their own money to feed and house the kids for those two days so it is not all jolly holidays.
The school my DS is in give 18month notice of a holiday over the value of £800.00 to give you time to pay. But because there was never any money in my house when I was a kid to go on a school holiday, since both my kids were babies I have put £30 into account so I will never have to say no you can't go on that trip, we do not have the money. It alway seem I was the only one that did not go on any.0 -
DD1 is off next week to Poland, leaving 2am Monday and back by 5pm Wednesday - £400! Part of her GCSE History course.
She then bought home another letter for a trip to Barcelona in October - about £350. This was for GCSE Textiles, as it wasn't academic and it was in same year I told her I'd give her some towards it for Christmas, then she'd have to ask if relatives would give her some towards it for Christmas or pay for some herself. She's now looked at the itinerary and decided it's not for her - involved a visit to football stadium! (Just as well because I later realised it also clashed with a family holiday to York)
A list in advance would be really helpful so she could pick and choose which she actually wanted to do rather than the first one sent out.
And DD2 has a Yr6 trip to PGL next year - Mon-Wed - £275! DD1 went on a Yr6 5 day residential for same price! But we'll pay for her to go as DD1 went.Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53
