Total for the month standing at £101.28 / £175 so far with loads of food in, as did a decent shop at the weekend at local Mr M.
Made toad in the hole tonight (for the first time) and it was lovely! Did individual ones in Yorkshire pudding tin with chipolatas and served with potatoes, veg and onion gravy. Also baked 12 choc chip muffins, totally delicious, for OH's lunches. Turned out so well and were worth sweltering over the oven for in this hot weather :rotfl:

Never thought about putting grapes and orange with rice. Thanks Billie-Jo xx
It had onion, grapes, cucumber, pineapple in but orange would be good as well. Also had lemon zest in and chopped watercress instead of coriander which I aren't keen on.
The recipe is from The Hairy Dieters cook book.
Will anyone be watching the 'Great British Budget Menu' a new series on at 20:00 on Thursday BBC1 - 'three chefs will be living with a struggling family and devising a tasty nutritious two course meal on the same budget as their hosts'.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
We were in desperate need of toilet paper so I had to go out this morning, also bought some cat milk (because he was very well behaved when we had to give him a bath last night!). I think I spent £1.66, but will check receipts and update properly tomorrow.
We were planning on doing a weekly shop tomorrow, but I'm going to pick up some chairs off freecycle, so putting it back to Wednesday! Money is running very low, officially 6 days until OH's payday...will be on a definite budget this week.
I've officially been finished with uni for the year for nearly 2 weeks now and it's over 3 months until I go back, so time to look for a job I think!0 -

I accidentally bought a huge sack of onions on a tesco online shop last month and I ended up making a few jars of onion relish for sandwiches or for when we have sausages its nice with those and then I was making things like mashed potatoes and cooking up some caramelised onions and plonking it ontop. Really yummy. I love onions but like you, I don't really like onion soup. I made a batch of caramelised onions and used it on things like "burgers, pizza toppings, baked potato toppings, hot dogs" I just looked up some stuff too and there is some ideas for pakoras or onion bhaji's? you could freeze thoseI might have to do that as I still have some of the onions in the pantry! lol. x x

Also, for anyone who uses Quidco, on it's Clicksnap feature at the moment, you can get a FREE Elmlea single and a FREE raspberry jelly (by submitting receipt and reclaiming this). I thought that would make a lovely summer dessert with fruit in it. (Available at the other main supermarkets as well as Mr S).
Thanks! i forgot to look at the apps this morning and im popping to mr M's later so will get some! x x
