Does a search on Equifax listed as 'DEBT COLLECTION' in Table One, affect your credit rating?

Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!

Thank you but that is in regard to 'OUTSTANDING DEBT' not 'DEBT COLLECTION'...it maybe dealt with the same though.
Anyone know where to get strict definitions of what these 2 terms mean?I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

Try emailing the CRA's and asking the question. Or PM the Experian representative on here, James Jones.0

I had a similar issue last year but I let it go but it has surfaced again...
I asked then but talking to Equifax, might as well talk to a brick wall, no definitive answer!!!I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

It shouldn't do. Only credit application searches should be visible to lenders and potentially affect credit scores. You can't apply for credit to a collector so their search is likely to relate to existing debt.

Hi, thanks for the response.
The search is being made by a company called CCML re United Utilities. Since it isn't an application for credit, it shouldn't be there, I can't be certain whether they disclose it or not...don't know why it is in Table ONE if it isn't!!!I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

Only you would know if debt collection agencies may have been assigned an outstanding debt.0 -

Can you clarify what you mean?
The issue is that it is in Table One which any company can see, this is surely an abuse of the CRA's, what is it in Table One for?I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
