    Hi - yes, I agree.
I went round to the estate agent (on whose recommendation I used that solicitor) and asked her to 'have a word' tomorrow! Politely though: I don't think putting the solicitor's back up is going to help at all.

To be fair, the solicitor has done an excellent job in all other respects and I can even understand her reluctance to advise me in this aspect (after all, this Feed in tariff legislation is relatively new plus solar panels are a product, not specifically part of the building).

However, just saying to me that I need to make sure I'm happy with the solar panel agreement myself is not acceptable.

    You employ your agent.
    You employ your solicitor.
Surely it is better (and less likely to put the solicitors back up) if you 'have a word' in person rather than via a third party, regardless of the previous recommendation.

PS dont imagine that because the EA recommends a solicitor that they are best mates. It is undoubtedly a commercial arrangement (ie a kick-back).

Try the "green and ethical money saving" board.

Quite a few discussions on there on the merits of leased solar panels.

Many thanks, silvercar: had not thought of that at all.

    Hi all
Just to let you know I pulled out of buying the house.
Feel very sorry for the sellers and the people they are (were?) buying from: I should have done my homework before even making an offer.
I will pay a hefty price in terms of money poured down the drain in solicitors fees, but I can't help feeling relieved.

Peace of mind is something you can't put a price on...
  • Patrick - I've sent you a DM. I'm in the process of purchasing a property and this company has also cropped up!
