Hello,
We're looking for a fee-free independant mortgage broker in manchester and wondered if anyone had any recommendations?
I also think it would make a good thread to do recommendations and area and for someone to compile a list? (will do this is people are interested).

Unfortunately we are not allowed to make any recommendations on this site.
Why not google for what you are looking for?

Best way to get a broker is by word of mouth. Ask friends, family and colleagues if they use a broker.I am a Mortgage Adviser

yeah but I don't have any friends with mortgages - I'm a student at the moment about to graduate. Family are not in Manchester and I don't really know anyone else with mortgages around here..
Google gives you a list but how on earth do you know if they are any good?
It seems a shame we can't recommend decent brokers on here. hmm.0 -
not true
a forum user who is not a broker can recommend a broker
but the brokers cannot recommend other brokers!
So perhaps someone will come along who is not a broker and recommend a broker
*mad isnt it?*
I am originally from Manchester but don't know any brokers there

Lellie's my OH, so we're looking for advice and direction from a broker on buying before we actually start work. Like I said t'other day.0 -
Whatever you do, avoid the Mortgage Point. Rip off merchants0

my friend used to work for them (mortgage point) and always refers to it as the dark side - they are sharks, they can not offer anything more than anyother broker out there other than the willingness to be fraudulent with applications!!I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Wise move, too many put their offers in, get them accepted and then buckle when they either can't borrow what they need or cant afford the repayments on the amount they want
which area of manchester will you be buying in?I am a Mortgage Adviser

Affording the repayments won't be a problem when I start work and we have the savings to cover the meantime.. so we should be ok.. It's just we're not sure how many places will consider us before we're earning despite having a contract to start work, stating my future salary and the savings to cover in the meantime..
We're hoping to buy in warrington actually. We're living in Hulme at the moment and looking to move out of town.. Warrington seems to offer great transport links, more greenery and cheaper house prices, so seems to be about right.0
