I have false info on my Equifax report also. I have asked them to remove it and they said I would receive an email immediately with the details of the report but nothing yet and it's been a few days.
I recently had the free 30 Day Equifax trial ( with £20 Cash back deal Still waiting ) I noticed that there was an error on my information, contacted them by phone and through my account, resolved fairly quickly, 6 weeks or so, even after I had cancelled they sorted this matter out and also confirmed changes by email, GREAT FREE SERVICE. :jThere are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -
Equifax are not great at all. Not when admitting their own mistakes. If it is someone else's, they will remove it.
Whether they sorted after you cancelled or not, is irrelevant. They are required to do so by law.0 -
So, we formally asked for it to be escalated. They have replied, refusing to do anything and actually said write to the ICO.
So as per the FSO we have exhausted all lines with Equifax, so will now have to make a formal complaint.
Equifax and incorrect information, absolute disgrace.0 -
FOS very busy at the moment so don't hold your breath
I have a £3.50 monthly subscription with unlimited reports and alerts including their web protect product. Observations and experience:
1. Their staff struggle with English. I hear they are based in Manila. It's not just bad grammar and spelling but inability to understand written requests and questions
2. Their alerts often fire randomly or for trivial changes. Often there is no change at all or the change is me getting my own report (probably after getting a false alert)
3. I had an old address showing for a Halifax credit card on Equifax - I hadn't lived there for 2 years and electoral roll and Halifax was updated 2 years prior. Experian and Halifax had the correct address, only Equifax was wrong. I contacted them, they corrected it. A month later they changed it back to the wrong address again. The same thing happened every couple of months for about 8 months. It's only just stopped. Every time i would contact them and every time I'd get some pidgin English response. They would ultimately sort it out but it was painful. You'd get muppets trying to put notice of corrections on my file instead of just correcting their mistake (exactly the same mistake they had already made and corrected 3 times already). Not good.0 -
Amazing what can happen when the FOS contact them for their final written response. All of a sudden they removed it.0

We aren't after compo as like I say, it hasn't caused any problems finically or professionally. Might of been different if they were a rogue association, but thankfully they are not.
You should seek a little compensation for time spent rectifying this problem.
Pleased they've removed it now, but it shouldn't be this hard to get them to change it.What will your verse be?

I can believe it.
I had my free trial, they hold incorrect information for me.
I sent them a polite message explaining that they are wrong.
they came back with a half arsed "its you banks fault they have reported to told us wrong", what, the bank which holds my correct information, and the other 3 that also hold my correct information, and the other two CRA's that also hold my correct information?
Thanks Equifaxfor the free trial. I can sit here and look at my file being wrong because your useless at your jobs, and then when i tell you you got it wrong, you tell me its somebody elses fault, despite the fact everybody else holds hte information correctly0 -

Good. Equifax only seem to sort things if there is bad publicity or it will cost them money. FOS would have cost the fools £550 if the complaint went ahead.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

If you keep contacting them, and wait long enough, they will probably correct it - as per my my post above. Won't stop them making the same mistake again in the future though0
