The relevant Law is actually the SoGA -

THIS is what Trading Standards have to say about it

My feeling is that the two callers the OPs dad had visit him are nothing to do with the company they left the contact details for.
It appears from the links that the only offence they have commited is, failure to inform of cancellation rights.

So, what watch did your father buy (please upload a picture), and how much did he pay for it?
Assuming that website is genuine, it claims they are 'trade only' - how much do you want to bet the guys who sold him the watch/watches simply bought a load of watches cheap from that website/shop, and are just trying to offload them to anyone they can?

May be covered by unfair trading regulations.

Will depend on exactly what was said/all the details. I'll quote a few bits that may apply.
    (18) Passing on materially inaccurate information on market
conditions or on the possibility of finding the product
with the intention of inducing the consumer to acquire
the product at conditions less favourable than normal
    market conditions.
An estate agent tells a consumer that he has recently
sold several houses in the same area, just like the one the
consumer is viewing, at a certain price. If this is not true and
he is making the claim in order to persuade the consumer
to buy at an inflated price, the estate agent would breach the
    CPRs.

    (30) Explicitly informing a consumer that if he does not buy the
product or service, the trader’s job or livelihood will be in
    jeopardy

    Reported as SPAM.

What makes me laugh here is you are following a troll, and supporting it with posts, COMMERCIAL LINKS and advice. The OP doesn't even make sense... I'm sure Claims Financial are JUST ANOTHER PPI CLAIMS COMPANY YOU ARE SPAMMING FOR...

Valli you are a spammer - most of your posts has nothing to do with the original post, but the multi accounts you have make this nearly real lol.

Opening a watchshop on ebay? Not a physical shop?

Selling cheap chinese watches that look like a million $ worth but to you only ££..

Lied or exaggerated or just sales spiel?

I wonder if we will all be the same when we get older? Buying flying pigs from dodgy people who knock on the door, Or will there be new scams for us to worry about?

What makes me rage (and say 'I told you so') is people buying domestic door locks and padlocks from Ebay traders - not knowing who they really are, and they can copy the keys to your home before shipping. They know where you live and have keys to your locks.... think about it?

But hey they cost £2 less than a registered Master locksmith - so it's worth it.... However your front door keys are now for sale on another website that needs a 'special' monthly fee......Robbers.com
It amazes me that people are happy to give a key for their front door to some random online trader if it saves them £2.... Really?

But I can't give Master locksmiths advice here - because the 'pay day loans' are paying for this websites existence.

I couldn't agree that *Most* of Valli's 15000 posts are spam links
This link has some useful advice but the rest of the site does seem to be a bit PPI -ish I agree!

Have i missed something? The op doesnt appear to have said what was bought if anything and what was paid for it?

As an aside and talking of so called luxury swiss watches, a lot of it is baloney . For example, if you go looking for an Omega watch, you can buy it direct from an authorised dealer and pay the tightly controlled cartel market price. You can buy it on the grey market which usually means authorised dealers offloading stock via the back door but then Omega withhold their official warranty (can they do that ?)... Now my idea of a luxury swiss watch at that level is one that is crafted by the brand name in their own production facility to the highest standards. But some so called luxury brands are just that..names. They buy in movements and case them. Did you know that Omega is owned by swatch ? Makers of cheap bling...
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I used the reference to the first site because it detailed the law re door to door salesmen; in an easily-readable format.

I also referenced a Trading Standards link.

I am not connected with either TS or the company at all. I was merely referencing the relevant law; especially since, if the original post is to be believed, it was unclear which, if any, laws have been broken.

No clue what the multi-accounts rant is related to. Can't be me as I only have this account!

But you appear to be have an axe to grind - and I'll leave it there. There's no need for this thread to be dragged 'off topic'.

As I'm not employed by any company at all I have no reason to spam this forum - unlike others.

Valli - I'm happy to leave it there also, but I guess you now clearly see my point?
I enjoy helping people - most people our company deals with are in need of urgent advice and assistance (just been burgled, lost car keys etc)
There are too many companies or rogue traders ripping people off or giving them really bad advice and it annoys me!
I just found out one of my neighbours paid a 'friend' £45 for 'one of the best locks available' a lock that I describe as 'not suitable for home protection' and priced at £8............. I can snap that junk in 10 seconds and walk through their front door - nearly as fast as using the key. To cap it all they can't even lock the door now??

I'm happy to advise people for free here - yes I run a 35 year established and authorised/registered/approved security company, but that doesn't mean I can't offer the correct advice to people wanting to protect their own 'castle'.

Rant & explanation over - apologies to the OP, and let's all move onwards & upwards :A
