halifax reward account any room for appeal ?

I've tried to improve my credit rating as of 18 months ago or so and have always been successful with the applications i've made. But on a whim i thought why not try the halifax rewards i have the available money to transfer 750 per month to the account to make 5 pounds per month a no brainer you'd think. I did apply last august for the account but was only offered the easy cash account which i declind. I applied again on the 20th may but received a letter saying i already had an application in process ie the one in august of last year. i phoned to explain this and they agreed that shouldn't be on the system 10 months later. I had to phone several more times to get someone to deal with it since then i received and was offered the easy cash account which i i must admit i was suprised by and won't be going forward with it.

since that date i have also applied for a next account and given a 1k credit limit why is it certain organisations seem to be willing to throw money at people and yet halifax won't even consider a reward account. i know i'm complaining about a free 5 pounds but i suppose its the principle.

Improving your credit rating can take longer than 18 months, expecially if its bad and has a lot of defaults and missed payments on it.

You do not have an automatic right to have a bank account from any institution.

You may not fit the criteria that Halifax is looking for when they decide on what kind of customer they want for there Reward Account.

Also you have to have 2 direct debits on the account and not just fund it with £750. In reality you've not lost anything at all as you were not guaranteed they would provide you with a rewards account.

You should take the offer of the easycash account and run this perfectly for at least 6 to 12 months by crediting if with money and having a few direct debits paid out of it.

This will build up a score with Halifax and they maybe able to upgrade the account to a reward one.

As to why some throw money at you and others don't, each lender has its own scoring and risk system and if you fit that system they will offer you a product.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

yes after reflecting on my above post i was going to edit it to say i'd probably go ahead with the easy cash account. I don't actually have defaults or ccjs on my credit file but starting from scratch ie no credit. I must admit i was also applying to take advanatge of the 100 switching bonus but the 5 pounds was also an advantage. While it won't be my main account as i have natwest with an overdraft and flex account amongst others i'll fund it and send afew dd via Halifax. I'm still suprised that i didn't get it but its more i wonder why than i deserve this etc . i suppose its a wake up call that i'm still not prime lol

Just to follow on from my reply

Do you think the fact that the previous application from last August was still live where I was offered an easy cash account affected the application in may ? Is it normal for applications to be sitting on the system for ten months? when I queried this with Halifax CS they were surprised seeing it still open. I do wonder if credit control or whoever looks at accounts opening for Halifax saw this previous decision and decided to offer me the same.
