How to avoid Vodaphone's £1 "check" for unrestricted web browsing

I assume this might work with other phone companies who block content with their pre supplied phone internet browsers. On Voda, if you want to you have to register with a CC card. A £1 charge gets made, but they give you £2.50 worth of credit. Not much good if you don't want a ringtone!

I downloaded another browser Opera from http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/

and found that you can surf without any restrictions.

While this is good news for some, parents might want to check what applications their children have downloaded onto thier phones. I don't think Net Nanny et al work on mobiles as yet!

Yeah I agree. Opera on Linux/Windows/Symbian is so much better than the usual browsers.

I don't understand - you can use the £2.50 on anything, surely? £2.50 credit for £1 sounds like a good deal to me. If you're on contract I think they actually just take it off your bill.

Not sure, but I think it's £2.50 off a product, not your monthly bill. But happy to be proved wrong!
