first direct 1st account monthly fee £10

Can you please clarify this paragraph? So am I correct to think that the £10 monthly fee is waived if I have another FD account, regardless of whether I pay £1000 in or not?

I have the Regular Saver account, does that count? - as the T&Cs don't specify what counts as a 'selected FD additional product'.

Banking with first direct usually costs £10 a month, but we'll waive the fee if you pay in at least £1,000 to your 1st Account each month or maintain an average monthly 1st Account balance of £1,000 or hold a selected first direct additional product.

The Regular Saver does not count for avoiding the monthly fee. It's easy to open a different First Direct savings account and leave a pound in it.

Thanks, is there a list of accounts that do count somewhere? So that I don't open the wrong account?

Even mentions, specifically, that the regular saver is excluded.

When I rang FD (a few days ago) they said ANY of their savings EXCEPT the regular saver counted.

They also said the £1000 per month needed to get the £100 incentive, HAD to be wages/salary......not transfered from another external account.

That sounds like the usual claptrap from bank employees who don't know what they are talking about. Like one of them told me today that "government legislation prohibits more than one Regular Saver at the same time". You really gotta laugh.

I hoped it ws claptrap but I posted elsewhere on these boards and no-one seemed able to show it WASN'T correct :(

    Terms seem to confirm it.

    :(

But I'd be never happy if its wrong!

    ;)

  • They may like it to be salary but I'm pretty certain that it doesn't have to be. Unless it explicitly states in the T&Cs that it must be salary then you will be fine.
