Solar Panel Payments Query???
Hello
Just new to the site as I want to find out more about saving money etc.
Can anyone advise me on How I find out when I am able to receive payments for my solar panels putting the excess unused energy back to the grid.
I had 14 solar panels installed on my roof at the beginning of March and due to misplacing the forms I received from my installer I did not get to send the filled in forms til about 4 weeks after. Now I have waited around 9 weeks and have not received any payment into my bank or heard anything back from the payments department I sent the forms to.
Has anyone experienced this or can advise me or give me an address or phone number to chase this up??
Any Help Most Appreciated

What do you mean by FIT?
Is that my energy supplier?
If so I`m with British Gas
And not sure if there is a separate department I need to contact??
Looking for who to contact to see what the hold up is.0 -
eh NO
My Installer told me it had to be sent to Scottish Power (Glasgow address) as they dealt with the feed in tariff and they would pass the details over to Scottish Gas. I wrote who my supplier was on the forms I sent in.0 -
Why would you send it to SP if you are a customer of BG? All the major suppliers administer FIT's-they are required to do so.
Though in fact you don't have to use the same supplier for FITS, so in theory you can reg for FITs with SP, though it would be fairly pointless.
Once reg'd, you won't be paid before you submit generation readings, which is usually done on a quarterly basis. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
No I paid for the Installation. I stay in Scotland and was told that was the way the system worked. I sent all the forms to a SP address in Cambuslang Glasgow. I actually scanned all the forms (including ID) before sending them in but not sure were I saved them.
would this not be the norm if I stay north of the border rather than sending them south??
On the form I gave FIT readings0 -
I still don't understand why you are registering with SP if you are a BG customer (I believe it's called Scottish Gas north of the border).
BG/SG has no connection with SP, entirely different companies. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Possibly confusion from the installer thinking that they had to follow DNO areas?
My advice is that you contact Scottish Power and have a chat with them.0 -
I find it hard to believe that an accredited installer could be that ill-informed.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I find it hard to believe that for something as important as registering FITS the OP misplaced the forms for 4 weeks (that's 4 weeks of lost income as they do not backdate payments), doesn't know where he sent them and now doesn't know where his backup copies are.
Whoever you sent them to isn't liable to pay you a penny and won't back date if they haven't received them, so you really need to find your back up copies & contact whoever you think you send them to ASAP as this is potentially costing you a lot of lost income.
For what it is worth, once your chosen FIT provider has set up your account you will be asked to provide an opening reading, then asked for a reading from the generation meter every 3 months and payment will be generated from the reading you give.0
