Can I opt for the cash?

Hi,

Recently had an accident with my caravan and am claiming.

Do I have to have it repaired or can I ask the insurance to send me the cash equivalent of the repair quotes for me to choose what I want to do?

Thankyou

You can have Cash in Lieu, assuming it isnt a total loss.

Often cash settlements are given at their preferred supplier rates and net of VAT and so will be lower than any quote you've received. Often they will give a second settlement for the VAT if you subsequently produce a VAT invoice to show the work was done up to a maximum of the VAT amount that their preferred supplier would have charged
