hi,
in the new bathroom we recently had fitted, the taps are the single lever ones, and when the water is turned on their is a very loud noise like an aeroplane engine. when the water is turned on fully then it subsides a bit.
We asked the workers why this was, and they said it was because of the very high pressure we have.
now is this just a line they are using or is it true? I mean it is happening with both the bath and the sink. (a really loud woooosh sound whilst the water is on).
any advice would be fantastic.
many thanks

I don't know if it will work but you could turn the cold water stop !!!! down to reduce the water pressure; there is a device to reduce water pressure but you would need a plumber to fix it to the cold water inlet.0

yep, glosman555 had got it spot on!
thats what you have to do, decrease the pressure in your inlet pipe for your cold water. some of them can be adjusted with a lever, and some with a screwdriver.0 -
is it only the cold water that is decreased?
will have to tell the builder to do it then. I'd expect them to know this kind of thing
thanks alot :beer:0 -
If they have done a proper job... i.e to water regs standards, then you should have service valves fitted to all the hot and cold pipes in your bathroom.
If you don't have service valves..........ask them why !
You should be able to throttle down the water flow using these, and leave the stop tap alone.
Turning the stop tap down to the house affects everything, you may need the extra pressure if everything is going at the same time.If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

is it hard to fit these things for them if they haven't done it?
we live in a flat in a high block ,so the supply would be coming from far away. not sure if that makes any difference?
these guys are like cowboys, did most of the house, but have to make sure everything is up to scratch.
thanks for the response. we have two bathrooms, and in one of them it is absolutely fine, but in the other it is noisy from both the sink taps and the bathroom taps.
thanks again!!0
