And when you're there, the virutal memory is in the tab "Advanced", button "Performance", tab "Advanced" again, and click the button "Change".
I'd suggest you leave it to the default though.0 -
I have 120 mb ram if i do the cleaner & crucial thing you suggested would i loose anything like e.g photos and to the other person who posted about going into the advanced settings i got to the bit where it said change what would this do if i did change0

Is this XP? If so, you need more ram.
ccleaner delete temp files, not photo'sEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Let's be honest, unless you still use Windows 98 SE, 128MB is hardly enough, especially for XP (I don't even think Vista would accept to work).
If you increase the cache, it might help you solve some "out of memory" errors. However, because the swap file is on the hard drive, it is much much much slower than proper physical memory.
Therefore to conclude, although I'm not usually the kind of guy to say that you need the newest top of the notch technology to run notepad, I would highly suggest that you upgrade your RAM to say 512MB.You will see a massive difference in performance, and 512MB is quite cheap.
*EDIT* Albert beat me to it, 128MB is probably insufficient.0 -
thanks for your posts really appreciate the help if i upgrade how do i go about that and if it improves this problem be willing to pay how much would i be looking at roughly i am not technical so dont have a clue0

Is it XP?
If you go to the crucial website, there is a scanner, run it, it should tell you what you have installed, and what upgrade options are available, including prices. There is also a guide on how to fit ramEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Crucial is hardly the cheapest memory though, quite the opposite. The only reason I have some Corsair memory myself is that I got it cheap on eBay. But you could get a stick of 512MB for much cheaper than Corsair/OCZ/Crucial.
Is the extra money worth it? Personally I don't think so, but then the memory I had before Corsair was faulty, hence me changing, and I've never had a problem with the Corsair (especially since I run them at the default latency instead of their rated one).0
