Debenhams and Burton Storecard PPI reclaim

Having had a great result (£17000) from HSBC today, I now want to pursue claims against the two in the title of the thread. BUT - I don't know:
1. When I took out the cards
2. When I closed them
3. Either account number
4. Where I was living at the relevant times (but I do know exactly where I was living and when as I have to be police checked for my job)
5. Whether I even had PPI on either.

I know that they were originally GE Capital Bank cards and that they still were when I closed the accounts and that this business has transferred from GE Capital to Santander.

Both were sold to me in-store at the till - "If you open a storecard account today, you'll get 5% off your bill". Apart from that there was no mention of the terms and conditions.

Can anyone please advise me what my opening gambit should be? I don't want to risk fouling it up at the first stage.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

If they were sold pre January 2005, they weren't regulated. Once you complain [especially to santander] they will probably refuse your complaint on those gorunds. Then you can complain to the insurer and see if they uphold your complaint.

Contact Santander and see if they can find you, because the accounts are closed, you may find there is no information on these accounts as the data may have been destroyed and without account numbers or other relevant details, you will not get far with these as complaints.
Santander would do as Taff as already explained, if you have/cannot get any details on these cards then the insurer cannot help you either.

I complained for my Laura Ashley card. It was pre 2005 and knocked back from Santander. Card was taken out 2001

However they sent me the form that was completed in store for the card. On the form was the insurers details.

    Hope that helps

Genworth is the insurer for GE cards.

I understand that the process is normally that you make your initial complaint to Santander, they will then refuse to uphold. You then refer it to FOS who after a few months will write to you advising you to refer the complaint to Genworth.

I've known of people who have attempted to go directly to Genworth, who will refer you back to Santander. It's only when you've exhausted the normal complaints procedure that they'll then get involved.
    Competition wins:
    2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!
