Thanks for all the replies, I'll think about swopping OH for the chest!!! If I had somewhere I could store it until we move somewhere bigger in a few years then I would, but all the family garages and spare rooms are full!

I can't see CC stamped on it anywhere, and they are proper locks on each drawer, but I don't have the keys. It's not in as good a condition as it looks, the bottom of one of the main drawers needs replacing and the "piping" has gone in places as well as scratches, but like you all said, it is lovely! Might have to show all your replies to the boyfriend and try fighting for it again... or a bigger house sooner than we though!

Any one have any tips for finding goos antique dealers??? Would I have to take it to them or do they come and look at it where it is??? Thank you!
  • Very Interesting topic folks. Particularly as my wife's grandma left us a Utility dresser 37 years ago. We never use it other than to display our Royal Albert Dinner Service. She who must be obeyed, has now declared that I must replace it with something more modern.
There was a CC stamp on the base back board but it had woodworm when we received it, so I replaced it with hardboard. No more worm.
My question for all you learned people is: Is there a market for it?
    Thanks for your indulgence folks
    Cheers
    Leo

Apparently as a new user I am not permitted to post links
So if you want to see the exciting picture of my dresser please add the appropriate prefixes yourselves.

There's a market for everything on ebay. Whether it's of any significant value i wouldn't know but i wouldn't think you'll have probs to sell. We sold a whole house of my grandparents furniture on ebay including big modern display units, old display units, big chest of drawers and 1920s wardrobes. Buyer collects obviously. None of what we sold was that nice or in particularly good condition..else we'd have kept.
