M1 certified taxi
I dont know if im in the correct forum but here goes
Bought a used hackney carriage taxi
Wheelchair converted with no M1 certificate
The company who did the conversion said they are not obliged to deal with us as we are not the owner who paid for the conversion
However for a fee of £1000 they will supply a duplicate copy of the M1 certificate
We were prepared to pay the fee but after waiting 3 weeks we were told sorry despite their best efforts they cannot locate the M1 in their archives
And so sorry we cannot have a duplicate
This doesnt seem right is it not the car and its conversion thats M1 certified and is there anything we can do
Can they refuse to deal with us
Any help would be appreciated

Nope!
You're not their customer, you didn't pay them any money, it's nothing to do with them.0 -
Can you not ask the original owner who had the conversion done to get a copy for you?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

We dont know where the original owner lives We know his name and were he bought the car from but dont have his adress we are sadle the third owner Oh dear it has to go back up for sale Hard lesson to learn Dont buy something without all the paperwork you require0

Where was it registered, which borough did it work as a taxi in. If you can find that out the licensing office may have a copy in their records.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

We require this m1 certificate for our licensing office We need to show it before the coucil will allow us to use the car as a blackcab in hull We bought the car from tyneside We have spoke to tyneside council who have informed us they dont require the m1 They do in house testing so cant help us either There is a vca test by dvla that can be done but our council dont allow them However this is going to the vote on the 1st of july so fingers crossed this is passed so we can have the car retested and passed0

"We require this m1 certificate for our licensing office "
So perhaps it might have been a good idea to make sure the vehicle had one before purchasing it?0 -
We did check first but bought the car before we had it in our hand Only to be told after 3 weeks of been messed about by the company who had converted the car that they could not give us a duplicate after all that it was not where it should be in their archives and as pointed out we were not the original customer and no money had changed hands so they didnt have to deal with us So now we are stuck with a car we probably cant use0

You can get names (and addresses?) of previous owners from DVLA for a fee. £5 I think.0
