Isle Of Arran

I'm seriously thinking in renting a house on the Isle of Arran in Scotland for a week in August. Does anyone have any suggestions about the best place to stay?

I have a budget for the house of about £600 for the week and it must sleep six people.

Thanks

Anywhere there's a house available? There are only 2 roads on the island, the circular one round the coastline, and the one across the middle - Brodick is the main village so here or nearby Lamlash are good points to base yourself.

Depends what you want, really. Lochranza is lovely, but it is very out-of-the-way. If you want to be in the middle of things (or as in the middle as you can be on Arran!), then Lamlash (the island hub), or Brodick (where the ferry terminal is) would be a better bet. However, at this time it may be more of a case of where is available.

Although, for a large house, in peak season, your budget might be tight.

The Auchrannie lodges are beautiful but not sure on price, 5* so probably pricey. The Dunvegan guest house in brodick has a house out the back not sure on cost again. If you contact visit scotland no doubt they'll have a list!

I've never been to this cottage or even this part of Arran so can't give any recommendations of what it's like but it looks as though it's available and within your price range.

    Thanks for the replies.

We've found a good bungalow in the village of Lamlash just 5 miles from Brodick and it looks superb. £600 for the week and it comfortably sleeps six with all mod cons and it has a superb view of the Holy Isle.
