Nationwide travel insurance

This comes with my flex account but I don't know if I should use this or buy something else. Has anyone else ever had to claim on this? What was the outcome?

Thanks

According to Defaqto, they give it 5 stars in regard to the coverage.

So not sure why you would need another policy which would duplicate cover. Just make sure that there are no medical issues that you need to mention to Nationwide and the trip details are adequately covered by their policy.

If you are not sure about the policy, why not call the helpline shown in your policy documents. Ask questions and if the policy in its standard form is not sufficient you may be able to extend the cover.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

If you have existing medical conditions you can still use the free insurance but add an additional fee for your conditions eg/ Heart Condition.

Phone them and declare any exsisting medical conditions.
We have had to claim on ours, they were great, now my husband has a heart condition and it is only £100 a year extra. Great ins you won't do better in my opinion.
  • We found that for Winter Sports it was cheaper to buy a separate policy than pay the top up. Have used it for other trips but not had to claim.

28/08/2010 Started saving for a house deposit
    25/04/2014 Completed with a £67k deposit
    10/05/2014 1st Overpayment made
    10/07/2016 Remortgage complete
  • Just called Nationwide to let them know that I take Statins for high cholesterol and was expecting them not to cover this condition. However, not a problem something about 1 medication is acceptable. Previous insurer, Direct Line, wouldn't cover this condition.
