Mortgage - Unexpected Problem!

Me and my partner have had an offer accepted on a property and we had a AIP with a provider without any problems. However as we submitted an application, the advisor emailed us to say that it was showing I had missed payments for 4 months back in 2011. This is a complicated problem with Orange as we moved house early and we transferred our broadband service to the house we were moving to and they already had Orange broadband so Orange said we could cancel the service without any charge. To my shock when doing a credit report back in Feb, it showed 4 missed monthly payments, I rang Orange up and they said they would correct this but the person has simply put the account as settled. The mortgage provider now wants something from Orange saying it was not missed monthly payments and have currently ceased the application until this is provided. Orange have said that I did not pay the monthly fee for the month when I cancelled the service however they did not ask me too at that stage.
I am incredibly stressed as I have had no credit problems and my house purchase wont go ahead until this is sorted. If it carries on, then it looks like I will not be able to get a mortgage:(

Any advice on whether based on people's experiences, the lender will agree the mortgage despite this issue considering the rest of my credit history is fine?0

contact orange and get whats asked for.0

If the lender has asked for confirmation then there's no way round it. Getting anything updated on your credit reports is a pain too so this won't be a quick fix. Unless you've got your heart set on using that lender I would get your credit reports from the CRAs and take it to a broker. Either way this all may be a timely process for you.An opinion is just that..... An opinion0

We just went through something similar, hubby had missed four payments in a row on a credit card with a balance of about £6 in 2012. (We dont know for sure what the £6 was as it had been clear for months, and he didnt even carry the card, I did).
We applied for a mortgage, not sure if the above was the issue, or more likely the fact we had moved into rented at same time and had missed registering on the electoral roll - long story short we did appeal to our lender and got a mortgage sorted directly, overlooking both issues! (both now resolved)0 -
We have been frantically trying to contact Orange who are next to useless:mad:. This wasn't picked up when the AIP was done. How does appealing work? Orange are meant to be sending us an email and a latter which is basically the notes on their system which says the account was closed with nothing in arrears and no missed payments. We have also written to their credit section to get it removed from my file and also written to the Executive group for the same thing. The worse thing is that this through no fault of our own and down to their incompetence:mad:. If we don't hear anything on the weekend, I may start contacting brokers to see if there is another lender. I don't understand the perspective of the lender, we have an excellent credit record, this is just a mistake which has been proven by the emails we've shown them yet they still want it removing from my record before issuing an offer. I would understand if I had real serious credit problems but I find it baffling how anyone gets a mortgage these days if they start challenging minor issues like this.0

My personal opinion here is that the telecommunications companies that have the authority to default and directly affect credit scores need to take more responsibility.
There is a useful vodafone rep who helps on here, but they are seriously naughty by and large when it comes to rectifying issues and hiding behind call centres.
Did they default you officially and which lender have you applied to?
There may be highstreet solutions still, but worth having experian, equifax and call credit reports..

Dave is right.
Mobile companies are trashing credit files throughout the country.
Consider this before you take a monthly pay scheme and give them a direct debit mandate.
Keep control and PAYG.I am a Mortgage Broker

I have to agree. It is fast and loose attitudes on the part of mobile telecomms co's which have kept me on PAYG. Their cheap attitudes to credit files do cost them some business.Dave is right.

Keep control and PAYG.You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
Wouldn't this be taken into account by underwriters in reviewing cases?0
