Vauxhall spare key

Hi I've just bought a car that only came with one key. It's for a Zafira B so has central locking.

I was thinking it'd be a good idea to get a spare one done, as I'm assuming it'd be cheaper to do that while I have one rather than if i lose it. I did google it but i got confused about pass codes and suchlike, i have no codes or anything so how would i go about getting a fully remote key that won't cost a fortune?

I have added the keycare to my insurance too, just in case.

Vauxhall should be able to provide you with the key code.

Places like Timpson sell spare keys at responsible prices.

Also is the car cat registered as one key can rarely be a sign of this.

have a word with your local independent 2nd hand dealer, they will know a local place that recodes/provides keys at a 3rd of the price of a main dealer. These guys hate spending money so know all the good places.
Astra G full remote key cost me £60 including removal of the missing key and proper coding of the new one to the car - VX wanted £175

T&B Motoring Bletchley, if you are in the Milton Keynes area... Used them to get a spare for my wife's Kia as well, after idiot boy (that would be me) threw the spares in the bin earlier this year. £75 instead of £135 from Kia

I got an extra key for a Zafira B a few months ago. I actually found that the total cost quoted by Timpson was higher than the total cost quoted by Vauxhall. I think the quotes I got added up to about £120. (New key plus recoding.)

Sounds like the 2nd hand dealers that richard734 mentions are even cheaper.

(When you get quotes make sure it's for both the key and recoding. First time I spoke to the parts guy at Vauxhall, he quoted the price of the key only.)

Hi thanks for the replies I would be pleased to get one for £70 as i've been seeing figures like £200 on Google! I'm in the north east.

I've just tried to join the Masterfit club too but it seems a previous owner has beaten me to it :(

So to get the key code I just go to any Vauxhall dealer? In my case that would be Sherwoods is that right?

ETA - i had the car HPI checked and it didn't say anything about being Cat registered
