Did you get quotes from other, independent, recommended solicitors?

The standard advice on here is not to use EA recommended solicitors - they will be paying the EA a referral fee, which you end up paying in your costs. There is no independent assessment of quality.

    Unfortunatly not.

Stupid mistake, but i have to get over it...

We had our application accepted today.

Probably for the best. I used Nationwide's preferred company via 'free legals' and it is the worst experience of my life.

I'm currently remortgaging to Nationwide using their free legal option Breeze plus I think they are called. Rang the solicitors at lunch time to check how it was going, as I hadn't heard anything since I got my official mortgage offer two weeks ago. I was ringing to ask if my overpayment was listed correctly and ask how it would be paid back to me. Anyway I thought, while I was on the phone, that I would check to see if they noticed that I wanted it to go through on the 6th Aug. They had not and were about to push it through asap. Doesn't inspire confidence.
