Cleaning shower drain?

Come to think of it I guess most people wouldn't be squirting something that costs about £7 a tube down the drain! Have put some down, see what happens, it was probably going to end up in the bin anyway.

I saw this on tv and it works but is a bit gross. Use a piece of curtain hook - the kind you hang net curtains on and poke it down the plug hole then pull it back up. I did this and what looked like a snake of hair came out. The shower wasn't even blocked just a bit slow. It did freak me out a bit but the water went down a lot quicker after that.

The hook trick works, used to use it a lot, but mine in this house the holes are too little to get it down

Back with a positive report on the hair remover cream - water is definitely clearing more quickly (I also discovered that the actual drain/ grid bit on mine pops out so can get things down the pipe to clean it without having to squeeze it through little holes)

This morning I put 2 hot kettle loads of water down, then some bicarb of soda, then some more boiling water. Very fun and I can recommend it! I will test it later and let you know if that worked. If not, then the hair removal cream will be next...

PS: Daft question... but there's so much info on bicarb... what else can I use the bicarb for in daily cleaning? I am no domestic godess, so only quick and simple tips please...

Yes it's the same thing. Baking powder is different though.

Ah, the distinction between soda and powder was what was getting me... must remember that, or will end up with some unfortunate house accident! Soda foams, powder is for cooking, soda foams, powder is for cooking... (I think!)
