CSA BOLTON at it again.

My case was shut on August 28th 2012. I had paid everything as agreed. Yesterday they called after 9 months and 1 day to say I owe £762.14. I have the account breakdown that shows no outstanding debt!! They are re checking figures and will call me today.

Its CSA Bolton (Vertex). Lucky I kept the paperwork although this will rumble on no doubt. I wrote to my MP last night, am making a formal complaint today and am trying to get some publicity for this.

This appears to be a last desperate attempt to get money from me. (Only from the CSA nothing heard from my EX?)

Do vertex get bonuses?

I thought it was all over until yesterday...unbelievable!:mad:

I'm not sure how they can argue that one esp. if you've written evidence that the CSA declared all debts paid.

I had similar problem going back from 2007, only sorted last week.
I owed £400+ in arrears (I did not, I notified them I finished work to go back into education, they say I never, luckily I had transcripts from CAB to say even they contacted and showed I had - never had to show this though)

Then it was £900 - do not know how
Then when I rang to question this it was £1200
Only a fortnight ago I got a a letter saying they are NOT going to collect the £1900 I owe.

This shows how inconsistent and pathetic this department is.

Always argue the amount if you believe it not to be true - never say "I refuse to pay" just say "I disagree with the amount", also if like myself you get through to someone who is childish on their end, then just do everything in writing and refuse them when they phone you and ask whatever they have to say to be put in writing (this way you have proof and don't have to speak with someone who does not care about your case)

In all my 6 years of dealing with CSA I have not once got my self wound up about it. You hear all these horror stories of people losing their homes etc...

If you truly know you are in the right then just keep calm and stand your ground, no one can make you pay something you do not owe, and yes it does seem like a last attempt to scrape some money, it is sad but true, they do this, as you can see with what I have dealt with.

It's no wonder they get things wrong, I think my case has moved through about 4 centres over the years and when I spoke to them about why a set of figures from 2006/7 had been included on my latest schedule they said 'there is a note on the system to say that an error occured' but they didn't stop the incorrect paperwork being sent out...

Have you kept a note of the payments you have made and all the paperwork as to your assessments so you can cross check them?

If you dont have much luck when they call you back and you still dont agree with the arrears then it may be best to involve your MP for a more detailed account breakdown.

I have a detailed breakdown of all my payments. I never missed one. They have some young girl who told me she didnt work there last year telling me she has checked it and she is right. looking forward to my MP seeing the paperwork. I sent it last night!! (copies)

Sounds like your case is clerical if its at Bolton. Good luck with your MP. Hopefully they can help you get to the bottom of the arrears and confirm if they are owed or not.

They are total idiots. Great that you have got your MP on to it immediately.

Never ever get rid of any paperwork peeps. They can come back to haunt you in future years.

My ex owes around 14K ( advance payments I received through csa incompetence) to the SoS, but they weren't going to collect it as it was classed as 'low priority'.

Just goes to show where their priorities lie!

I think another private company has taken over from Vermin now. Can't remember the name now...

If I was you I wouldn't pay a damn penny of it. Let them sue you.

I think I spoke to the same girl after I got a letter from the CSA saying they still planned to take the £5 JSA contribution for maintenance although I was only receiving £4.08 JSA at the time.

Fortunately - somebody else in the dept saw sense and made it a nil assessment.

They have checked and agreed that I had paid everything I ever been asked to pay. There are no arrears and my case is shut. Would they have told me if I had just paid up?? I doubt it but this is a lesson for everyone GET A COMPLETE BREAKDOWN. I had one done 6 months before I finished and had kept it. Lucky I did!!!
