I have had probs with printed labels on CD/DVD's but I have just replaced my computers CD/DVD burner for a new one with 'lightscribe' technology.
after you have finished loading the data you flip the cd over and put it back in the computer drive and it can burn words and pictures direct onto the disk. it was pretty cheap too, less than thirty quid to buy, five mins to fit and no mess or ink to buy.

The Epson R265 is the latest versin of the 220 mentioned, and is well liked.

SPV had it for £42.99 with 99p delivery using Google Checkout, however they just sold out but should have it back in stock soon.

http://svp.co.uk:80/products-solo.php?pid=2014 , good reviews and cheap ink, also you can get continuous ink systems for around £20 from same place.

PCWorld had it on offer for £49.99, and the Canon ip4300 for £59.99.

PS Lightscribe is slow (20 mins+ to burn pic) and blanks cost a lot, improved system expected later this year. I would wait before going down that route.

Checkout larger branches of Boots, they had some discontinued Epsons a while back

Thanks - yes I'd heard that Lightscribe is slow, so I hadn't wanted to go down that route - and CD labelling is not something I trust completely now (some of my old ones look distinctly dodgy now in terms of staying on and I don't fancy ruining my stereo, especially the one in the car) -

I did the same as MMCG for the Pixma 4300, ordered online and picked up in store saved a LOT!!!
