Help - looking for a printer that will also print CDs

Options
My Epson inkjet printer has given up on me and I'm looking to replace it - but I thought I might look for a decent printer that will also print onto CDs and DVDs - is printing onto CDs any good? And anyone know where I might be able to get a decent but cheap printer that fits the bill? I know Epson did a deal a while back where they gave you money off if you returned one of their printers - do they do that any more?

I use an epson r220. prints one disc at a time, very slow. Are you aware that you have to use special "prinable" cds and dvds? I use https://www.ukdvdr.co.uk for cheap inks and blank dvds, inks good, but recommend you get top brand dvds and cds - returning duff dics to scotland expensive and time consuming
    stay lucky!

the epson r300 is what i have

    it prints onto printable dvds/cds-
used a few times when burning a family dvd

the reason i bought is that it takes 6 different ik catridges

Which means one can replace the colour you use the most instead of chucking away the traditional cartrdges where if say one of the inks is empty it wont work

the r300 will also take memory cards from a digital camera or hok one up by usb and you can print your pics really easy

yes thanks - I thuink they're not too much more than regular ones now - certainly see them a lot on bigpockets.com

I was just wondering if anyone had seen either of these on special anywhere?

r220 for me as well. Works great. As long as you don`t want to print cd/dvd`s in bulk and quickly then it really is excellent.

Unfortunately I can't find either of those printers for sale anywhere now - have they been discontinued? Anyone know of any other printers that print onto CD please?

I have had the Pixma IP 4300 for around 6 months now and think it is fantastic. Printed loads of discs, quickly. Quality is excellent.Downside of this printer is the cartridges, you have to take the chip off the original cartridge and attach to replacement which is not easy! Alternatively buy Canon replacement cartridges which are expensive.

I bought the canon pixma mp600 a few months ago. Its a great all rounder and prints onto discs. The colours come seperately. I'm not sure about refill costs yet though as I've not had to do this. I purchased it in pcworld after reserving it online first as it was £35-£40 cheaper than going in stpre and buying without a reservation! It cost me £115.
2p or not 2p? That is the question!

    Glyn,

The Epson r220 has been discontinued I believe, god only knows why, I have two and they are excellent. You may be able to find one old stock somewhere, but chances are quite slim. They have been superceeded by the Epson R265 which also prints onto cd / dvd discs. As long as your not printing hundreds of discs this will work just fine. Compatable carts are available now for these printers too.

    Hope this helps

    Dave
