Sorry to be harsh back - but with respect I didn't ask for wagging fingers. Have you never made a mistake derrick? He is well aware he's been stupid in his haste and he is well aware the insurance company have no obligation to pay lizyloo.

I'm sorry if you took offence.
    I wasn't wagging fingers.
My post was entirely factual about how insurance policies operate.

I know what you meane about people preaching though.
The "madeline" thread was something to behold.

ben500 thanks - though knowing my friend, if the guy's caught I suspect being sued will be the least of his problems!

maclean2, thanks, now we're cooking. OK so maybe it's a slim chance but at least it's a positive suggestion. I'll pass it on. Thanks for your google time.

Thanks littlejo - be interested in anything you can find, as far as I know he hasn't taken legal advice.

lisyloo - no offence taken - it's like I said to derrick - he knows that - what he needs is something/anything to move forward with. What you need when you fall out of an aeroplane is someone to tell you how to fly, not someone telling you that any minute now it's really going to hurt. :-)

Hi - from googling for the ombudsman cases in around 2004 on this subject looks as if the only argument open is if the keys left in car restriction was not made clear. As is a major restriction in cover the ombudsman has laid down that this restriction must be made very clear ar the time cover is taken out.

Nothing to lose by appealing to the ombudsman but do not be too hopeful.
It is very unlikely this will not have been stipulated at point of sale, the quote goes somewhere along the lines "And that cover will only apply if the vehicle is secured and the immobiliser in working order and operational at the time of any theft"
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.

Only hope is that the person who stole the car is on CCTV
