You can ask to see a Disability Employment Advisor if your health condition causes barriers to employment.

I can't say I have heard any 'horror stories' about workfare.

If you appeal the ESA decision you can remin on ESA whislt the appeal is heard.
As for JSA you will be expected to be available and actively seeking work, as Dogger69 has said you can see the DEA but you will still be expected to participate in steps necessary to secure employment. The DEA can offer support.

definately ask to see the disability employment advisor at your local jobcentre.

if you have appealed against the decision it should normally take no more than a couple of months. if after that the decision is against you a tribunal can take longer but again id call your benefit centre and ask for an update etc

Isn't this precisely why payment of ESA whilst waiting for a Tribunal hearing should be stopped? There is no other benefit that allows an 'appeal rate' payment.
Hopefully with UC coming in later this year it will be easy to slip from ESA to JSA and back again without problems

    That's a bit harsh Andy!

Surely failing the ESA is a good thing?

I always thought that passing a medical should be seen as a success and not a failure..
