Any advice on driving out of the airport? I am worried about the traffic around Barcelona. I am driving to Beniccassim. Do people think it is better to go by train? I am think of the cost for 5 of us.
Thanks for any help or advice.

driving wouldn't be an issue as the airport is south of barcelona and its close to the motorway network which will take you directly to benicassim so its pretty straight forward... equally trainstation at the airport provides plenty of trains down the coast to benicassim so its personal preference. trains are relatively cheap and efficent compared to the uk and a further option would be the local buses. i would advise calling the tourist information or at least visiting their website.
are you going for the festival? either way look there for trael information but it is a good distance from barcelona0 -
Its not easy at first, particularly on the roundabouts, and making sure you get in the right lane but once you've done that no problem,0

hola c'est moi, are you going to the fierfib fest? This year will be my 3rd visit to Benni!! We're flying to Barca then catching a train - we've found this the easiest method of transport by far, but you'll have to be quick off the mark with tickets, the first year we couldn't get train tickets and ended up having to get a taxi which as you can imagine was a fairly expensive cost but spread between the four of us just manageable on our budget.
Well, if you are going to the festival then I hope you have as much of a good time as I have  you’ll never want to camp in the mud at an English fest again!0 -
Barcelona airport is a piece of cake. There is a massive 'ring road' that goes around the car parks/car hire lots so you just drive out and there is only one way to go and the motorway south turnoff is fairly soon.0

we drove to benicassim from barcelona a couple of years ago. because we stayed in the city the night before we picked the car up from the train station in the centre - was an absolute nightmare and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone!! but having driven out of lots of spanish airports i don't think you'll have a problem. just follow the signs for valencia and you'll be fine

if you are going to the festival, i have heard that the trains can be a nightmare if you don't book your seats in advance, and having a car means you don't have to endure the slog to the beach every day - just hop in and whack on the AC
this will be my 4th year at FIB and i'd go for car over public transport any day!! 0 -
Barcelona Airport is easy to exit. Make sure you check the car for any minor dents or scratches before driving off - and get them noted on the pick-up doc.
The only problem I've had is topping up the car with petrol on return. There are not any *convenient to get to* petrol stations close to the airport.
Also make sure that you are with the car hire rep when he/she checks the car and tank on your return. Make sure you get a signature on the return form before you leave the car pound> Leave plenty of time for return (around an hour) at peak holiday time.
These boys will try to charge you £400 for a small scratch if they can get away with it.0 -

Petrol is easy as well now, as you approach the airport there are signs to a petrol station which is just off the main 'ring road'0 -
Train is around 70euro for a family of four on a tourist ticket ? depends on the car hire but you should get it significantly cheaper Train Fare link
Driving is not difficult it is just a case of dont panic, take your time and have a stuff em attitude to the Alonso's close up your back, the car is more flexible but book it in the UK.0 -
Don't know if you have one but we use a sat nav with european maps loaded in, we have navigated Barcelona and Lisbon airport with it and my husband regularly uses it all over Italy driving. At firts we borrowed a friends but have since bought one. Really helpful. i aslo preloaded the destination points pre journey and had a quick pre-look at the directions.0
