Mortgage ppi

Hi
Can anyone help me please. Been trying to claim mortgage ppi back thru Lloyds TSB. They provided me with the account number and name of company I paid the ppi to. Put a claim in; they did respond within 8 weeks telling me I hadnt been mis sold but not giving me any reasons why.

I wrote back disputing their decision; after 4 weeks of not receiving a reply I rang them; they told me they had wrote to me twice (seems coincidence as I never received any letter from them); i asked for copy letters to which I am still waiting to receive nearly 8 weeks later and more calls to them.

I contacted the ombudsman who initially told me to give them details and that I should not give up.

Received letter from ombudsman few days later saying they didnt think I would be succesful in my claim as they had others which they had not upheld.

Don't know where to go now or what else to try but I know I was definitely mis sold!

Any help would be much appreciated.

If both the Bank and the Ombudsman have rejected your complaint then it's over.
Most complaints about Mortgage PPI are rejected, it's one of only two forms of PPI which are still retailed.

I havent as yet sent the forms back to the ombudsman as only just recived them so I can't understand why they told me over the phone to carry on with complaint and then when sending me the initial forms tell me they may not uphold the complaint.

Is it worth filling the forms in and sending them back or do you think I'm wasting my time?

As I said, most Mortgage PPI complaints are rejected.
Expect a long delay of up to eighteen months if you do decide to refer...

Most MPPI complaints are rejected. The general position is that MPPI is worth having where you are eligible. The audit trail for MPPI is better as well. We don't know your complaint reasons. So, can't really comment on why the FOS have told you. If it is just an unprovable verbal allegation with no proof then you would expect to fail. If you have a provable reason that is strong then you may succeed.

Just in the last few weeks, the FOS rejected a case on MPPI where the person had 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay. Yet had that been loan or credit card PPI, they would have upheld it.

The FOS won't stop you referring it to them. They are just being realistic by telling you that you shouldnt expect success with whatever reason you have given.

Perhaps it wasnt mis-sold. If the adjudicator has not upheld it then its most likely the Ombudsman wont either. There isnt anything wrong with having mortgage PPI, so it dont think of it as similar to other policies.

Why do you feel it was mis-sold? We could probably tell you if its worth pursuing.

Because there was no discussion regarding its suitability or cost or our employment history as to whether we were paid if we were on long term sick.
At that time in 1997 my husband and myself were in full time employment (of which I am still with the same employer) we both were paid 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay should we be off work thru illness so therefore I don't think it was suitable for us so isnt that mis selling?

My understganding is that a full and frank discussion should take place prior to any ppi being sold?

    Can you advise?

Hello, Would MPPI be considered to have been possibly mis sold if the person was self employed? Our mortgage is with SPML (managed by Acenden) arranged by Compass Finance who I do not think are trading anymore. I am hoping that the policy is maybe a bit more robust than those sold with loans and redit cards and if we did find ourselves in a position where my partner ceased trading then we would be covered. Thanks

Most MPPI did cover the self-employed.

You need to check whether the terms of the insurance would be too onerous for a self employed person to realistically be able to claim.
