    1. Nappies- We used cloth mainly and you can easily save money this way. When using disposables I used whatever was the cheapest - one or another always has some kind of special offer on so I'd stock up then. Costco sells huge boxes for quite a good price. Joining the Pampers club (try their website) means that they send £2 and £1 off vouchers regularly.
    2. Milk formula – I breastfed both children and never had any formula as back up. When no 2 was older and we were going out one evening I bought in a couple of cartons of ready made formula as backup. If you just want it as a backup then ready made would probably be more cost effective than a large tin which would need using quickly once opened.
    3. Sterilizer – We saw one (Avent) at our local chemist for £40 (apparently comes with some free extras worth up to £20 ????). Again where did you get yours from and is £40 a fair price to pay?
Used a Boots 3 in 1 one first time round didn't use it enough to justify such a huge thing. Bought an Avent microwave steriliser from Ebay for 99p the second time and that was completely sufficient. Didn't really need it when breastfeeding and didn't wean no 2 onto solids until the recommended 6 months so didn't need to sterilise any of his weaning things.
    4. Feeding Bottles – How many should we get? Also which ones? Didn't use any when breastfeeding. If you are looking at a steriliser which includes them they would prob be more than sufficient.
    5. Breast Pump - Don't buy until breastfeeding is established - would be a waste of money if you end up bottle feeding.
    6. Swing – Never used one
    7. Cot/lad blanket – wife wants to pay £25 for this and I disagree – it’s seems too expensive. What do you think?
    What is this???
    8. Blanket – Again £21 – refuse to pay and we saw ones at Ikea for only £1.99. How much will you spend on a blanket?
Think the basic plain old cotton waffle blankets are the recommended ones as it is easier to control the babies temperature with layers and they are less likely to overheat. These only cost a couple of pounds each.
    9. Cuddle robe comes with free mitts set - This is £11 – We bought a set of mitts -10 in a bag for only £2.99. How much does a cuddle robe cost?
Never used mitts, just picked up cheap cuddle robes for a couple of pounds from kiddicare.com and Boots sale. Cuddlerobes don't last long and aren't essential.

Other great ways to save money - NCT nearly new sales http://www.nct.org.uk/locator?type=events&q=
I've come away with huge bin bags of new looking stuff for a few pounds. They are variable though, some you can't find anything so it is worth trying a few.
