I think the OP now understands that 26 is not under 26!

I'm not sure the V&A can actually insist on charging for the full membership, as they did actually give a temporary membership AFTER checking the details! The contract has been formed.
The V&A need to honour the membership or refund minus the ticket price for the exhibition.
The V&A perhaps also need to sort out their online system to not allow over 25s to buy under 26 tickets, or at least tell staff to check.
On the other hand, it may well be that they do not check these things with temporary passes, and the OP's misrepresentation (let's be honest, it was a false statement of fact) was not discovered until later. V&A would be entitled to rescind the contract at this point. As the OP has had some benefit from the card gained by the misrepresentation, he would not be entitled to a full refund.
Which, to be fair, is what you are suggesting.0 -
