I have a sink drain plug that looks like this:

On the sink, there is a knob that I push and pull, that used to push the sink plug up and down, so that water could get out.
It no longer works.
I have had a look under the sink. There is a cable that goes from the knob to the drain. It looks like the cable from a bicycle break. Pushing the knob up and down moves the wire a bit. But does not move the plug.
What do I need to do to fix this?

you need something like this or you could do away with the pop up, use a blanking disc for the hole at the front & just fit a normal basket wasteI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
