Limited capability for work questionnaire

Does anyone know if it's possible to fill in the questionnaire on computer or does it have to be hand written?

You can download the questionnaire on the gov uk in PDF format and it allows you to fill it in.

Do you mean the ESA50 that comes from ATOS or ESA1 that DWP send out initially? The LCW sounds like the ESA50 so if you can download it to the PC then I am sure that you can fill it in on your PC then print it off.

    ESA50 1/13 it says.

It's just they've made the PDF so you can fill it all out on the computer and it doesn't mention that it has to be filled in by hand.

Yes you can complete the form online, print it off and return it instead of the paper for they sent you (that is what I did).

    Two things to check

1 Double check that the online form is the same as the one you have been sent. The forms were changed in January 2013, but for a while the older forms were still available on the internet (no idea if this is still the case)

2 REMEMBER TO SIGN THE FORM - it is very easy to print it off and forget to sign it!

Also make sure the writing isn't tiny on the PDF, if you fill too much information in, the text shrinks. Put any additional information on a separate sheet of paper (using word) make sure you put your name and NI number on it.

if putting in additional information write the page number it refers to.

ie question 8 (only using as an example)

not enough room on form so write see attached page 8a and number the extra info page 8a. the more information/evidence you can supply the better it will be for you although id always hold something back incase you have to appeal.

Good advice, except I don't agree with holding anything back. The decision maker can only make a decision based on the information available, so it is in your interests to provide as much info as possible.

But more importantly - make sure you are clued up about the descriptors, including the support group descriptors, and make sure that you explain how your condition affects you with the descriptors in mind. Sadly the process is not directly concerned with whether you are fit for work, but whether you can tick these arbitrary boxes.

i only said that as so many are losing their benefits and if they supply everything at the beginning then they have nothing to add at the appeal stage. if they dont supply more evidence at the appeal stage the appeal writer wont change the decision. unfortunately the new test is completely different from any previous ones. you will be assessed on any work not just what kind of work you used to do.
